It seems her entire life Kai Altair has teetered upon a strange duality. Part gypsy, part pop princess, Kai enchants and transports others into the message of music, and
creates melodies that linger long after listening. Raised by nomadic parents, she spent her childhood in the fields of rural Pennsylvania, The Adirondack Mountains, and The
Virgin Islands. One might never guess her nature soaked background, as this one-time opera student at The Manhattan School of Music shines amid the lights of New York
City. Kai’s incandescent, ethereal, and spellbinding voice, combined with a potent mix of sensual lyrics, attract everyone from indie music lovers to dark fantasy readers.
In 2003, Kai Altair founded The Switch, an electro pop band that rotated the club and party circuit of New York City. They played parties like Michael T’s infamous Rated
X, and owned the stage at CBGB’s, The Kniting Factory, and The Cutting Room. The band won an award from The National Endowment of the Arts, and placed 2nd in
The New Jersey Battle of the Bands competition held at The Starland Ballroom.
Kai is her own musical journey these days. Often seen dancing barefoot on stage, Kai’s music is a timeless tale of mysticism and primordial magic, whose heartfelt songs
lead us happily into temptation, while exuding the strength of femininity. If music is the universal language, Kai Altair is a fluent speaker.
