I love so many different styles and genres of music but jazz holds a special place in my heart, and there is no better place to see
live jazz in New York City than at venues such as the legendary Birdland. Birdland has been the destination for some of the most
celebrated musicians for over 60 years like Jazz legends Charlie Parker, Count Basie, and John Coltrane to name a few.
The name, "Birdland", was derived from the late Charlie Parker's nickname "Bird", and it has been the center of the New York
Jazz scene since its opening in December 1949. Regulars like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner,
Gary Cooper and Joe Louis had the chance to see the tops in the industry perform at Birdland live and uncut. There is no doubt
that these performances had to be nothing less than life changing; it's hard to put into words the feeling of being in such a warm,
inviting setting, witnessing some of the biggest names in jazz perform on the intimate stage. This club is where the magic happens.
Today the line up at Birdland is still top notch with acts like Hillary Kole, David Murray, Freddie Hubbard, and many more.
If you have never been a part of something magical make
sure you buy a ticket asap and let the magic begin.

But the main reason I finally had the chance to go to Birdland on a cold snowy night a few weeks ago during the Christmas season
was Freddy Cole!! Yes this performance was truly magical and my guest and I experienced something that can only be described
as other worldly. Our souls and minds were truly touched by this performance and I can't thank Birdland enough for inviting us.
