“Change your Words, Change Your Life”
By: Nina Mistier
Words are very powerful and when you realize the power you have in creating your life based on what you say, you may want to
watch your tongue. The old adage “Mean what you say and say what you Mean” really says to think before you speak. When you
speak words of positive fulfillment, happiness, health and love in your life, you are helping to bring these things into your life.
Make today the day you begin to pay attention to what comes out of your mouth throughout the day. Notice if you are
complaining a great deal or speaking kind, happy, helpful words that will bring you your heart’s desires. For example: if you wish
to change something in your relationship, don’t spend every opportunity complaining about how awful your partner is. Speak
about the things your partner does that makes you happy, the reasons you love him/her and why you appreciate having this person
in your life. When you focus on the positive, rather than the negative, you are changing something in you, rather than trying to
change your partner. By shifting the focus to yourself, most times this will cause a change in your partner. By the way, this is the
only area you actually have any control of.
You cannot change other people, EVER, but you can change yourself and your perception of situations. You do not have to be
insulted, hurt and victimized at every turn. These are habitual reactions to the outside world and you can change them. Probably
from the time you were a child you began to view yourself in a particular way based on how you were treated and spoken to.
You can change this feeling by choosing to. There are three things you need to do in order to initiate change. First, you need to
notice, pay attention to what you say and how you feel when people speak to you. The second thing is to make a choice about
how you are going speak and react to others. You do not have to be insulted. The third thing is to realize that anything anybody
says is not really about you; it is about them, so don’t take it personally! You can make a choice to be happy, not to be hurt,
change your perception and change your words. Yes, I know this seems like a great deal of work, but if you take it one day at a
time and make a positive change each day, you will notice in time it becomes more natural. Everything takes practice; remember
the twenty one day rule. Any habit can be created or broken if you practice it consciously for twenty one days. Take some
control of your life today; begin choosing how you want to feel and be mindful of your words. Choose to speak words that will
bring happiness to your life. Today is the only day that really matters because it is the only day you can control. Make today a
happy day; yesterday is over, you cannot do anything to change it and tomorrow is not here so you have no control over that.
Make today count; life is so unpredictable, you have no guarantee that tomorrow will come. Have a great day!
