HAVI Schanz was born Argentina, has over 20 years of combined as an artist, architect, interior and graphic designer. His vision of art is reflected in a poetic way as his brush strokes capture people’s feelings and emotions. His architectural background is clearly embedded in his work. In the difficult to accomplish simplicity of his paintings, he skilfully combines rigid and structured forms without losing the organic character of his art. His creations complement each other in a subtle way.
He has held several positions as an Architect, most recently as Commissioner of Architecture in Sauce Viejo City Hall and Professor at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Argentina. He received an Architectural degree, and a Master in Colour, Audio-Visual Media, and Conceptual Art from the National University of Litoral, Argentina. He has also studied photography, digital video, acting, costume, and set design.
HAVI’s art has been widely exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in Argentina and the United States.
Kaliopy: When did you finally decide to leave Architect & Interior Designer to pursue Art full time?
Havi: One year ago I decide to become a full time artist and there are some occasions I work in architect and design. For more than 20 years I was the complete opposite.
Kaliopy: What a Unique way of featuring your works on draft paper, how is that working for you?
Havi: The concept is put together the architect, designer and the Artist in the same artwork. It takes time to create a human being, to combine all my talents in one without internal confrontations. For those that view my work its a great and unique way to understand my being and for me the synthesis of all my knowledge of more than 30 years of study.
Kaliopy: What is the type of paper are you working with?
Havi: I used Blueprint paper for the last series, TRANSFORMATION & HAVI'S BOYS all the blueprint are from my architectural and interior designer works. Also the ides of RECYCLE and be GREEN.
Kaliopy: I can see you have a love for painting portraits, are they of anyone in particular?
Havi: I love in particular one of my first portraits, this make me notice I have the potential to paint the human face. Prior to this I only painted in abstract form, then one day I was hanging out with a Friend Carolina Aramburo, a "Landmark Education's Forum Leader", we started discussing about me moving into art and we planned to do a week long of art works. This was to create the new life, a designed life as an ARTIST and that's when I began to paint portraits, using the architect's blueprints paper. Later I noticed myself the "architect" and the "artist" in one (My Painting) and it worked so well together, it was a combination of all the knowledge of 7 masters and the Power, Energy and Enthusiasm of the Artist. My soul is the artist, my mind is the architect, urban planer, the graphic and interior designer...
Kaliopy: How was your experience with Pamela Anderson? what event had you attended?
Havi: The experience with Pamela was great, she is such a wonderful person, she is shy and kind. We did a presentation of her Portrait in Fort Lauderdale Florida, the launch of her Perfume "Malibu" at the W hotel, out the front on the pink carpet. There was alot of flashing, roughly 30 photographers and also TV crew, but a fantastic experience. I am now working towards painting more celebrities and would love to be the Celebrity Portrait Artist as Andy Warhol (He laughs), well I hope !!!! My good friend Elaine Lancaster http://www.facebook.com introduces me with Pamela, and she is helping to promote my art. We did an Art Basel about a month ago, a great event in Miami Design District, the Show was called iMuse, all about Elaine and my paintings.
Kaliopy: How did you and Banana Republic collaborate with your previous exhibition?
Havi: With Banana Republic, I have a really good relationship with the mangers here in Miami, the idea is to circulate my work in more stores and companies who believes in my artwork and Share and Spread my art all over the world. During January and February I will be exhibiting my works twice in Macy's South Beach, and I am working now with more people of other recognized stores as well.
Kaliopy: Lastly, Do you have any new themes you might be working on? or exhibiting soon?
Havi: Banana's new show is coming soon, featuring my new series Mythology, all about Greek Gods. I'm going to be POSEIDON, so I need to Grow my beard for about 5 months to perform Poseidon for my new series, and Neptune is for the international photograph Rubem Robierb http://www.facebook.com Plus, my artwork will be featuring in the new fitness book of Patrick Mahoney "How to be a Greek God" http://www.facebook.com/group.
