JAVIER TRUJILLO (1962, Madrid) has been always drawing. At the age of 17 he joined D, Amadeo Roca’s drawing and painting studio. Next year
he studied at Villalar studio, where he developed and improved his painting and staining techniques. In 1983 he started to works as an
advertising illustrator at M.V.F.& Asociados, developing the airbrush technique there. Since 1988 he has set up his own studio as an illustrator
and a freelance artist, and he has also collaborated with designing studios, advertising agencies and also in house designing publications. In
2005 his career took a turn and he started working into the comic sphere. In 2006 he was nominated with the newcomer award at Expocomic in
Madrid for his work on The Myths of Asturdeva (Los Mitos de Asturdeva). The same year he met Paul Naschy, and began a good and productive
artistic working relationship, in which Waldemar Daninsky, The Return of the Werewolf (El Retorno del Hombre Lobo) was created. This is a
comic adaptation from the script of the film it is named after, which was written, directed and starred by Naschy in 1980. Also in 2007 Trujillo
collaborated again with Paul Naschy in his new film, Empusa, making the promotional poster and other artistic materials for the film. That year in
December, he won the prize “Best Spanish artwork at Expocómic 2007″ in Madrid for Waldemar Daninsky, The Return of the Werewolf (El
Retorno del Hombre Lobo). In March 2008 he published the third Asturdeva’s Myths instalment, the one that closes the trilogy the story is based
on. In August he won ImaginaMálaga Best AuthorPrize for Waldemar Daninsky, The Return of the Werewolf (El Retorno del Hombre Lobo). In
November 2008 Waldemar Daninsky – The origin of the curse was published, this is the first instalment of The Beast and the Magic Sword based
on the script of the movie of the same title which was written, directed and starred by Paul Naschy in Japan in 1982. The second part will be
Waldemar Daninsky: The silver Katana. During 2009 he collaborated as an illustrator for Scifiworld magazine, drawing covers about Fantastic
films icons. In September of the same year, together again with Paul Naschy, he made the illustrations for the first Naschy illustrated novel about
one of his mythical characters: Alaric de Marnac, published by Scifiworld. Nowadays he is drawing vamp pin ups illustrations for a monthly section
on Scifiworld magazine called Javier Trujillo’s fantastic arts. These would be published together with other illustrations in an art book in 2010.
